World Wildlife Day

This event celebrates the beauty and diversity of flora and fauna and raises awareness of the preservation of nature around the world.

º May 22nd

World Biodiversity Day

Biodiversity, or biological diversity, includes the whole living world (animals, plants, ecosystems and other organisms). May 22nd highlights issues related to biodiversity in order to discuss their importance and raise awareness about conservation.

º June 5th

World Environment Day

Established by UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) this day aims to raise awareness about conservation and mobilize people around the world into taking action to protect the environment.

º June 8th

World Ocean Day

Launched in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio, this day aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving that which covers 70% of the planet and makes all life possible: the ocean. The day informs the world’s population and mobilizes us to launch sustainable conservation projects.

º July 29th

World Tiger Day

The tiger is a beautiful Asian animal unfortunately in danger of extinction, hunted continually and deprived of its natural habitat due to the exploitation of natural resources. This day aims to raise awareness about the situation to mobilize so that this animal does not die out.

º August 12th

World Elephant Day

Elephants can be found in Africa and in Asia. Beautiful and harmless, on both continents they are severely threatened by illegal hunting, exploitation and habitat loss. This day aims to raise awareness so that the world acts to protect them before their situation becomes critical and irreversible.

º September 16th

World Ozone Layer Day

On September 16th 1987, the Montreal Protocol put in place measures to protect the ozone layer. In 1994, the UN General Assembly declared that day the ‘International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer’ to encourage action to protect the environment.

º September 22nd

World Rhinoceros Day

The rhino is hunted each year for its famous horn. This terrible fact has caused the creation of a day dedicated to sensitizing peoples of the world, so that they mobilize to end a terrible massacre.

º October 4th

World Animal Day

Established on the feast of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology, this day aims to celebrate animal life and to encourage the respect and protection of animals, be they domestic, wild or farmed.

º December 10th

World Animal Rights Day

The International Day of Animal Rights was implemented on the same day as that of human rights in order to make governments and people react about the conditions we impose on animals. This day encourages us to protest silently in places where animals are abused and to shut cruel research laboratories.
